Educational outreach activity for Moreno valley high schools
This new educational activity aim to implement a new materials chemistry class into the chemistry curriculum of Moreno Valley high schools. The materials chemistry class will be composed of two learning phases: The first phase (at school) comprises three sets of experiments which will be related to industrially used processes and useful solid state materials, and the second phase (a one-day visit to UCR) will comprise interactions with undergraduate students including campus tour of STEM facilities, three sets of demonstrations by graduate students and a seminar by the PI.
Undergraduate research opportunity
- Our undergrad Conrad Njamfa was awarded a MARC U* summer scholarship allowing him to: (1) attend bi-weekly meetings during the summer (2) conduct full-time research during the summer (3) create a polished science presentation and, (4) attend MARC’s Summer Symposium.
- Our NSF Career award included stipends allowing undergrads to carry out research in our group: This Fall quarter 2017 several undergrads have been awarded: Raymond Nguyen, Nika Bakshi, and Conrad Njamfa.
Summer research opportunity for High School students
Six high school students from the Valley View High school (VVHS) have participated in a six-weeks labs rotation experience (our lab, the Lavallo lab and the Guo lab). Thanks to all graduate students, in particular Jan for mentoring these students.
They gained unforgettable research experiences as documented by their several pictures below.
