Undergraduate research opportunity
- 2016
3 undergraduate students have gained research experience in the Fokwa group in 2016. Recently, two first year undergraduates (Andrew Encinas and Vikas Shukla) have been awarded the highly competitive Research in Science and Engineering (RISE) Fellowship: RISE is a 10-week Summer research program designed to prepare participants for graduate and professional study by providing valuable research experiences, training, seminars and multiple workshops aimed at better preparing scientists. The program runs from the end of June through the end of August, and students receive a $5,000 stipend while each student’s faculty mentor (PI) receives an additional $500 to assist with lab and research costs.
The PI is committed continue to getting more funding for undergraduate research in the future.
